Simply Easy Flowers To Paint
Painting a flower picture or adding flowers to your picture is just something we seem to naturally do as artists. They look very appealing and pretty. In this post I will be showing you how to make an acrylic painting of flowers that is so easy that even the newest beginners can enjoy being creative and have a beautiful picture to be proud of. I’ve also included some pictures of other easy painting ideas for you.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Your paint surface - I used an 8” x 10” canvas panel.
- Assortment of paint - the colors I used were turquoise, blue, white, purple, and green.
- Paint brushes - ¼” or ½” wide flat brush, a round or filbert size 1 or 2 brush, and a detail brush size 0/10
- A bowl of water
- Paper towels or a clean rag
- A palette, preferably a wet palette - Click here to learn how to make your own.
Choose Pretty Colors
For The Background
Squeeze some of 2 - 3 colors (my choice was turquoise, blue and white) that work well together onto your palette. Using a ¼” or ½” wide flat brush, swirl the colors together but don’t completely mix them. See the picture. Dip your brush in your water and squeeze excess on the side of the bowl, then swipe the paint from top to bottom adding a bit more water when needed, to make a pretty background that’s not a completely solid color. The Rough Draft Of The Tulips
Now using your flower colors with a smaller round or filbert brush size 1 or 2 turn your painting upside down, swirl the colors and make believe you’re drawing bells. Make 4 bells and 1 bulb. Try to make the colors not mixed giving a variegated effect. See the picture.
Define The Flowers
Next you want to use a small detail brush size 0/10 to put some definition with the darker purple color into the flowers like the picture.
Add Stems And Leaves
Add the stems, using a mixture of green and a bit of white with your size 1 or 2 round or filbert brush. Make them a little bit curved so they look natural. And finally add some leaves.
