Artist Easel Reviews

artist easel reviews

If you’re looking to buy a painting or artist easel, you’ll find there are so many to choose from in such a large price range that it can be quite overwhelming. Buying your easel may be one of the most important and expensive decisions you can make. There are a few things to consider when choosing an easel. You’ll want your easel to be strong and easily adjustable so that you can use it while sitting or standing. For the different types of mediums you’ll be using, it should be able to convert to laying flat or in the vertical position. Portable easels are nice too so you can travel with them, take them down for storage, or go outside to paint with them. There are tabletop easels for artists who are confined to a smaller space or who would just prefer to sit to do their artwork. Children’s easels need to be durable, smaller and able to accommodate many different types of artwork.

I’ve done some research on some really nice easels at affordable prices. Let me show you what I came up with for my artist easel reviews. I hope this helps you decide or at least give you somewhere to start.

Non-skid pads on the feet add extra stability, and the easel’s removable compartments are perfect for storing materials. This unfinished wood easel tilts past vertical, has an adjustable lid and canvas handle, and includes an 11 in. x 16 in. wooden palette. Maximum easel height is 69 1/2 in. Maximum canvas height is 33 in. When not in use, the easel folds up to 16 in. x 22 in. Its weight when empty is 14 lb.

Review: This easel is easy to assemble, compact, and sturdy. It has a nice drawer for supplies, and it's easy to set up and take down for travel. It looks very nice in the studio, and you can use it while standing or sitting. It has a great price...about half the price you’d pay at a retail store. Most of all the 68 customers were overly happy with the quality and price but a couple unsatisfied customers said the legs didn’t glide right for set up and take down and the wing nuts on the legs didn’t tighten up enough.

(96 cm) Base Width/Depth: 16 in./14 in. (40 cm/35 cm) Folded Dimensions: 14 in. x 16 in. x 5 in.

Review: This tabletop easel is very convenient, ready to use, and adjustable to hold a large canvas. It is an excellent space saver, has a nice storage drawer, and it’s easy to fold up and carry around. Almost every customer loves it and are raving about the quality for the price. Only 2 out of 26 customers rated it a 4 instead of a 5. The reason was the adjusting part to change to a low angle wasn’t quite as secure as other angles, drawer walls were a little low, and 1 person said the clasps for the drawer sometimes didn’t work.

Review: The easel is great! Durable and easy to assemble. Each side is adjustable to different heights for different size children. It's entertaining for the kids, and it keeps them busy, with lots of fun for them. You need to take the paper roll off to fold it and put it away. Some say the chalkboard cannot be written on and others say they have no problem with it. Some customers were able to fix this by sanding it and painting it with chalkboard paint. A few had gotten damaged products. It’s not magnetic so you can’t use magnetic letters on it. There’s 2,401 comments about this product on Amazon. There’s a few unhappy people but the average rating is 4.4 out of 5.
